When I began this blog in 2001, I was appalled by President Bush's headlong rush to an illegal war (we were not in fact under attack). As time wore on and Bush began his assault on the Constitution and any people bold enough to criticize, I believed that "the republic is endangered more by actions of our own government than by those of any terrorist." With the election of a high-minded, compassionate, intelligent man like Barack Obama, my fears have ceased.

I have been unable to post to the Pun list for lack of anything remotely humorous to say. Wednesday I posted an email saying I thought humor was necessary in the face of tragedy, but coldn't think of anything myself. Several others have written to agree with me. About four people have posted limited bits.
Today for the first time, I thought of a pun and was not allowed (technically) to post - got an error mesg. OK, here's the pun, weak though it may be:

At the candlelight vigil Friday night, a fella named Josh was selling lapel
ribbons for 50 cents. I paid for two (I have 2 lapels). Boy did he give me
a ribbin'!
