When I began this blog in 2001, I was appalled by President Bush's headlong rush to an illegal war (we were not in fact under attack). As time wore on and Bush began his assault on the Constitution and any people bold enough to criticize, I believed that "the republic is endangered more by actions of our own government than by those of any terrorist." With the election of a high-minded, compassionate, intelligent man like Barack Obama, my fears have ceased.

Want an easy way to add a link with your commentary to the blog? Go the Blogger How-to page and scroll down to the line that shows how to set a 'BlogThis!' bookmarklet.. They provide a link, which you must drag to your browser's link area of the toolbar.
How do you use it? When you find a web page with great content, highlight some text and then click the 'BlogThis!' link. That activates a little javascript and brings up a small screen with the link and your highlighted text already there. Add a comment if you wish. When it looks the way you want, click "post and publish" and there it is! (or if you are unsure about it, click "post" to see how it will turn out, and fix if needed, then click publish.
