When I began this blog in 2001, I was appalled by President Bush's headlong rush to an illegal war (we were not in fact under attack). As time wore on and Bush began his assault on the Constitution and any people bold enough to criticize, I believed that "the republic is endangered more by actions of our own government than by those of any terrorist." With the election of a high-minded, compassionate, intelligent man like Barack Obama, my fears have ceased.

...unlike Americans, who have grown accustomed to a face of government turned aside from them, a government there to protect valiant industry from the inroads of greedy, needy demanding citizens (make that "liberals"); not to look out for the public welfare.
The Bush administration has done as much to raise alarm as to allay it in this crisis. Do you feel there is a strong grip onthe helm by someone with our interests at heart??? I dont.
His flunkies, the major news outlets, especially all-news channels like CNN, have a rhythm going [alarm!..alarm!..alarm!... c a l m . .. alarm!..alarm!..alarm!... c a l m . . . ] which they cycle endlessly. My advice: 1-don't watch tv for more than 10 minutes at a time. It's bad for your mental health. 2- Join a peace activist group, any one will do. . Give money to the ACLU. Resistance is important. Keep on thinking for yourself, and don't let your brains be turned to mush; don't let yourself be caught up in the patriotic lemming march to the cliff.
