When I began this blog in 2001, I was appalled by President Bush's headlong rush to an illegal war (we were not in fact under attack). As time wore on and Bush began his assault on the Constitution and any people bold enough to criticize, I believed that "the republic is endangered more by actions of our own government than by those of any terrorist." With the election of a high-minded, compassionate, intelligent man like Barack Obama, my fears have ceased.

Hostile Fire Kills First U.S. Soldier Since War's Onset An Army Special Forces soldier was killed today in a brief firefight in eastern Afghanistan, the first death of an American serviceman by hostile fire since the war started nearly three months ago
The word 'war' hardly aplies to us bombing the bejaysus out of a place like Afghanistan. Use of the word 'war' is a ploy to garner public support. It works every time. Wake up, America! You are being manipulated to support ends that have nothing to do with the hopes and desires of average Americans.
