New spoofs are good newsEvery time I see another spoof on the president or his party I feel my hopes rise a little that George Bush does not have the country in a strangle hold and that perhaps we will escape him. Saturday the New York Times reported that Texas Democrats had put up a website Enron Owns the GOP that depicts a big E for Enron on the trademark Republican elephant. . Now the Republicans are hopping mad that anyone would dare to criticise them. Their biggest complaint is that their trademark was used in the spoof. Democratic strategist Kelly Fero who owns the web site says use of the parody logo is protected by the First Amendment. The website demands that Texas Republicans who took huge contributions from Enron give them back. These particular Republican politicians mimic independence, Mr. Fero said. If they want the site to go away, they should give the money back to the ex-Enron employees who could use it now. -- NY Times The EnronOwnsTheGOP site has links to numerous other sites, including a White House parody site White House.org --note that the real White House site is whitehouse.gov. This one is parodies many aspects of the GOP. Some samples:
