Bush plays politics with people's livesEmail President Bush and urge him to release $34 million approved by Congress for the UN Population Fund (13 percent of its budget). The cuts in programs and staff could mean 2 million unwanted pregnancies, 800,000 induced abortions, 4,700 maternal deaths, and 77,000 infant and child deaths according to a spokesperson for the fund. The family planning budget also provides condoms for AIDS prevention. Not surprisingly, Bush's freeze came after an anti-abortion agency made an unsupported allegation that the funds were being used for forced abortion and sterilization in China. Read more on this topic Health and family planning is what we should be spending on , not military. I heard on the radio the other day that the U.S. spends $10,000 a minute on military funding. That is not going to keep us safe from terrorism. We should focus on making people's lives better, our own and as much as possible the lives of others, too. The United States needs to be a better world citizen. Palema
