When I began this blog in 2001, I was appalled by President Bush's headlong rush to an illegal war (we were not in fact under attack). As time wore on and Bush began his assault on the Constitution and any people bold enough to criticize, I believed that "the republic is endangered more by actions of our own government than by those of any terrorist." With the election of a high-minded, compassionate, intelligent man like Barack Obama, my fears have ceased.

Hah, Iraq has decided to let the UN weapons examiners in... How will this play at the Bush WH? will they declare it is a trick and that the invasion planning must go on? [I went and looked, and sure enough, Bush won't take Yes for an answer! }
While Bush fiddles, the USA is burning (figuratively). There are so many priorities in this country that are being neglected, it's pathetic. The economy is going down the tubes and the President doen't seem to care. Or maybe he hopes it will right itself despite the steps (like major tax cuts) he has taken to undermine it.

No one has come right out and said forget about your standard of living, your retirement hopes, your ability to pay for drugs you need to stay alive. When this week's tears dry, it is time to look clearly at this failure, and demand an explanation - or action.
