Bill of Rights Defense Committee

The US Patriot Act (so-called - a misnomer if ever there was one) which was passed over a year ago, contains provisions that allow government to forget about the rights of Americans in the Constitution - the document that has goverened us since the inception of the United States in the 18th Century. Citizens around the country have been quietly working for its repeal ever since. The first Bill of Rights Defense Committee got busy in Northampton, Mass. and persuaded their city council to pass legilsation making the town a sfe haven for the Bill of Rights and asking for replea of parts of the Act. Similar actions are in process in about 40 other towns or counties. These are dedicated Americans.
We support repeal of parts of the USA PATRIOT Act and Executive Orders that infringe on Constitutional rights. This web site documents and supports local efforts to restore civil liberties guaranteed by the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution, which have been threatened by the Act and Orders.
