When I began this blog in 2001, I was appalled by President Bush's headlong rush to an illegal war (we were not in fact under attack). As time wore on and Bush began his assault on the Constitution and any people bold enough to criticize, I believed that "the republic is endangered more by actions of our own government than by those of any terrorist." With the election of a high-minded, compassionate, intelligent man like Barack Obama, my fears have ceased.

Ben's new company has a Spanish model:
Inspired and informed by Spain's Mondragon Industrial Cooperatives (a fifty-year-old network of successful employee-owned businesses). In other words, it's a worker-owned cooperative in which the top guys do not exploit the bottom guys. They are all in it together, and the top pay is never more than 8x the bottom pay. That's the way things ought to be- none of this minimum wage stuff- replace it with a top cap.
