When I began this blog in 2001, I was appalled by President Bush's headlong rush to an illegal war (we were not in fact under attack). As time wore on and Bush began his assault on the Constitution and any people bold enough to criticize, I believed that "the republic is endangered more by actions of our own government than by those of any terrorist." With the election of a high-minded, compassionate, intelligent man like Barack Obama, my fears have ceased.

Take a look at the organization started by Ben & Jerry's ice cream, "True Majority.". They sift through the news coming out of Congress and when something big comes up, send you an email. Then with one mouseclick, you cansend a fax to relevant parties in D.C. Good idea!

"We can't afford it?" Nonsense! Bill Gates can afford it all by himself. If the top one percent of the world's wealthiest chipped in one percent of their wealth, one time only, we could end world poverty. The misery around the world is not necessary; we CAN change it. Not to do so is immoral. Sadly, the richest of the rich spend millions or billions every year trying to make it sound impossible, lobbying against it, and supporting regimes that oppose it.
