The interesting thing about AfricaHere's an interesting item in from Voxnooz (commentary on Europe and the world from a guy who writes a bit like that jaded New Yorker Don Marquis of Archie & Mehitabel fame): Asked what they find most interesting about life in Africa, the French do not say the job, the people, the animals, the geography - No, overwhelmingly the reply is "Having servants." As a practicing democrat, I see considerable value in doing one's own scut work -- it helps you see what you really value when you must get it/wash it/cook it yourself, and you learn also to value other people's time. And yet, I can sympathise with those French people, too. When you have always done it yourself, it could seem rather charming to lay it all off on someone else for a change. Thanks to Mike O'Dwyer of Monaco for the tidbit. Palema
