When I began this blog in 2001, I was appalled by President Bush's headlong rush to an illegal war (we were not in fact under attack). As time wore on and Bush began his assault on the Constitution and any people bold enough to criticize, I believed that "the republic is endangered more by actions of our own government than by those of any terrorist." With the election of a high-minded, compassionate, intelligent man like Barack Obama, my fears have ceased.

Bush to kill Medicaid
The following is not about the 'war on terrorism' but it is from the Democratic National Committee and represents the furthest it is courageous enough to go:
President Bush wants to eliminate guaranteed coverage from Medicaid and privatize Medicare -- a direct attack on America's most vulnerable seniors and low income families.
Bush's plan for Medicare will force seniors into private HMOs if they want a prescription drug benefit, effectively subsidizing big insurance companies at the expense of seniors.
Bush's plan for Medicaid will set caps on the amount of money that goes to pay for medical care for America's poorest families, hurting the children who need the most help. His proposal eliminates guaranteed coverage from Medicaid, breaking America's promise to working families.--dnc 2-26-03
