Heed us, Mr. Bush

I plan to be at the candle vigil at the Frog Bridge Sunday (3-16-03) from 7-8 p.m. One of my daughters will be a sister vigil in Elizabeth Park, Hartford. Our brothers and sisters will be at vigils around the world from 7-8 p.m. (local time) the same day. What an awesome sight this would be from the air, hundreds or thousands of sparks of candelight awakening hour by hour across the world.

Even more awesome would be if "our" president, Mr. Bush, would pay attention to the voices of the world and stop his madness.

Buddhist prayer for peace

May I become at all times, both now and forever
A protector for those without protection
A guide for those who have lost their way
A ship for those with oceans to cross
A bridge for those with rivers to cross
A sanctuary for those in danger
A lamp for those without light
A place of refuge for those who lack shelter
And a servant to all in need.

St. Francis Prayer

Lord, make me an instrument
Of thy peace, where there is hatred,
Let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that
I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in forgiving that we
Are forgiven, and it is in dying
That we are born to eternal life.
