May 1, Labor Day![]() In much of the industrialized world, today, May 1, is Labor Day. In the U.S., the Labor Day holiday was moved to early September because of the inordinate fear of communism inspired by Sen. Joe McCarthy and his witch-hunting HUAC gang back in the 1950s. It's surprising they didn't switch the red flag stripes to green back then. Nowadays when you don't agree you are called a terrorist instead of a communist. It's always something they hit you over the head with if you get out of line. I received this nice Labor Day graphicfrom a French correspondent named Matthieu.
