Vote for Kucinich

As a candidate for President, I offer a different vision for America, one which separates me from the other candidates. I am the only candidate for President who will take this country away from fear and war and tax giveaways, and use America's peace dividend * for guaranteed health care for all, ending health care for profit. I am the only candidate who will stop the privatization of social security and bring the retirement age back to 65.

As President, I will cancel NAFTA and the WTO, restore our manufacturing jobs, save our family farms, create full employment programs, create new jobs by rebuilding our cities and schools. As President, I will repeal the Patriot Act to regain for all Americans the sacred right of privacy in our homes, our libraries, our schools.-- Dennis Kucinich

*"peace dividend:" the prosperity you saw under the Clinton Administration, due to cutting back deeply on the military

Vote for Dennis Kucinich or the candidate of your choice in the MoveOn.org primary today or tomorrow! (You had to register with MoveOn.org to vote, and if you didn't already register -- sorry, it's too late. You had up to midnight last night to do it.) The page where you vote also asks which candidates you would enthusiastically support if they won the MoveOn primary.

MoveOn.org has installed several security measures in hopes of preserving the integrity of their process. If this primary works as intended the public will have taken back the electoral process from the corporations, if only briefly.
I say 'only briefly' because as we know from history that corporations, the far right and the superrich will dive in and snatch elections back as fast as they can.
As you may recall, the campaign reforms of the 1970s were meant to reclaim elections for the people, but the Supreme Court jumped in with Buckley vs. Valeo and restored to the wealthy the 'right' to control campaigns-- all in the name of free speech. In a flawed decision, the Court kept the retrictions on contributions that were imposed, but kicked out the limits on spending, providing a big tilt to the party of the rich. There's a reason why Republican presidents have won nearly every election since, and this is it. Having staked their claim, you can imagine how upsetting it was to Republicans to have an upstart like Bill Clinton jump in and snatch the White House for not one but two terms. This explains why they went after him with nearly every tool in the kit, even ridiculing his wife and daughter.

I fear for the republic, and laud MoveOn.org for applying new and startlingly effective means of rallying the public's voice. I don't know how long it will last before the Supreme Court moves to shut down the internet altogether, so vote while you can; this is your window of opportunity.
