Better to be than to seem...At least 789 children and probably more than 1,000 have been sexually abused by 250 priests and other church workers in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston since 1940, according to a 16-month investigation by the Massachusetts attorney general that was made public today. This is what secrecy will get you. This abuse was allowed to go on because the Cardinal preferred to protect the Church's name over protecting those little kids. As in life for the rest of us, it's generally better to own up, take your lumps and move on. The Catholic Church, which promotes confession, ought to have known better. It was trying to seem to be perfect that led them astray. There's a lesson there for all of us. Palema
