Arnold, the pigThere's a pretty good analysis of the California governor-recall campaign at the Village Voice by Rick Perlstein, The Fringe on Top Also read James Ridgeway's article, What Presidential Race in the Voice The recall is going to overshadow the 2004 presidential race in every regard for the next several months at least, Steve Weiss of the Center for Responsive Politics told the Voice on Monday. This could affect the efforts of the Democratic presidential candidates to fundraise and even to generate attention in general. Another article by Ridgeway tracks Kathleen Harris, former Election official in Florida who is now a congresswoman. At a town meetig where she was to speak, she had her staff confiscate flyers that tracked her voting record so elderly people could less easily question her on medicare legislation. She claimed that ethics laws barred the literature from the room. So, would you rather believe this Bush flunkie is incredibly ignorant (confusing the town meeting with a polling place?) or an extremely cynical liar? Those Bush people will stop at nothing. We are right to question the national use of electronic voting machines (to change the subject a bit). They can way too easily be rigged by the Bushies, and they will clearly do whatever it takes to keep and increase their grasp of power. Palema
