When I began this blog in 2001, I was appalled by President Bush's headlong rush to an illegal war (we were not in fact under attack). As time wore on and Bush began his assault on the Constitution and any people bold enough to criticize, I believed that "the republic is endangered more by actions of our own government than by those of any terrorist." With the election of a high-minded, compassionate, intelligent man like Barack Obama, my fears have ceased.

An acquaintance of ours has poked a little fun at Arianna Huffington.
...we wonder what Arianna Huffington, ah, does with Her name at night. Like, when She goes to bed. Does She lay it down on the floor, right beside the bed ? Or does She actually take it into the bed with Her ? --VoxnoozShe is a co-founder of Americans for Fuel Efficient Cars - the Detroit Project which aims to reduce our reliance on oil. The oil interests, of course, would rather increase our reliance. So she and her fellows at AFEC have taken on a big bite, and it is a good target. Reliance on oil is bad for the evironment, bad for the economy and bad for those who must fight to defend our right to pump where and when we please.
