A horrible waste of money

The cost of war in Iraq was $72,261,891,079 (or so) the last I looked at the Cost of War page that is keeping a count based on information from the Congressional Budget Office.

At this site, you can compare this astronomical price to what it would cost for public housing, energy independence and a few other similar items- either nationwide or in select locations.

While you're counting things, you may want to visit the Iraq body count site, which is keeping a tally of civilian deaths, as near as can be told-- the U.S. is specifically NOT keeping a count, because it would be embarassingly at variance with the image we like to have of ourselves as the good guys. Alas, we have not had a claim to good-guyness since WW II.

No more chocolate bars for little kids glad to see us- now it's poisoned water and unexploded bombs in the back yard.
