When I began this blog in 2001, I was appalled by President Bush's headlong rush to an illegal war (we were not in fact under attack). As time wore on and Bush began his assault on the Constitution and any people bold enough to criticize, I believed that "the republic is endangered more by actions of our own government than by those of any terrorist." With the election of a high-minded, compassionate, intelligent man like Barack Obama, my fears have ceased.

Lieberman has been called " Bush lite "
The Black Commentator , one of the finest online journals, sees it about the same way, judging by this cartoon
An accompanying article notes that the conservative (aka racist, but they of course deny it) White Guy Wing of the Democratic party is always the first to bolt when they don't get their way.
Nader and the Greens bolting in the last presidential election was an aberration; it's usually the righties that run. Could this have something to do with their god-given sense of entitlement?
Now the right hand Dems are claiming that if we don't do it their way, we will lose. How about if we offer an alternative to Bush's loser policies? He gulled America into going along with him, but they are beginning to notice the pains of a lousy economy and dying soldiers. It's definitely time for a change.
I keep getting invitations from the DNC and the DCCC to send money (occasionally acocmpanied by a sham "survey". I do want a Democratic Congress... but I do not trust them any more to do what's right.
In my memory Jesse Jackson was the last candidate to speak the truth. Now Kucnich seems to be the next in line, though he seems not nearly as invigorating as Jackson, so it's hard to believe he would bring a lot of oters on board.
