December is sliding along

We had an early snow storm last weekend. It wasn't horrendous, but about 8 inches of snow fell in a couple of bursts over the course of two and a half days. The plows were out in the lulls, and our driveway was plowed twice (that's one measure of the size of a storm, I guess).

Since then, some of it has melted around the edges, and it softens during the peak heat of the day, around 1:30 p.m., when the sun is 2/3 of the way up in the sky being dandled on the knees of bare trees.

Meanwhile, I have been avoiding politics as much as possible. I can't bear to watch the news on television, and I can hardly bear to watch The West Wing with its intelligent, liberal and (alas) fictional president. Now that makes me weep. Although the writers frequently develop plotlines that mirror real situations, the fictional Pres. Bartlett vastly outshines the relatively real Mr. Bush

There is a Bush "recall" effort afoot. We don't recall presidents in the US the way Californians do their governors, but the organizers are planting the idea wherever they can.
Since Bush took office, we have shifted from a substantial surplus to a debilitating deficit. Our educational system is under-funded and ill-equipped, and millions of jobs have been lost due to a weakening economy. -- www.bushrecall.org
YOU can read about it, and donate.
