Dr. DeanI've been reading various things about Dean and he's not bad, but there's something about him that holds me back from whole-hearted support. Yet I read one thing today in the NY Times that really annoyed me: Then there are the questions about whether a man whose chief political experience has been running a governor's office has the skills to run the federal government. What are they saying here? That Bush has the 'presidential' experience and is therefore better qualified to be president? Or that Liebermann (and others) has the Senate experience? Bush, you may recall had the experiece of being what's known in political science as a 'weak governor.' That does not imply that he was weak, but that the position as defined by the Texas constitution, is short on power, basically a figurehead. He had never held any elective office before. Dean on the other hand, was a member of the Vermont legislature for several terms and then lieutenant governor for over five years before serving 11 years as governor. That is significantly more experience than Bush Jr had. Palema
