Smiley face president

Piggybacking on President Reagan's rep for having an irresistably sunny disposition, the Bush blog puts out Reason Number One to vote for Bush:
In his optimism and outgoing boyish cheer he resonates with the ordinary
citizen in this country far, far better than his opponents. He is the happy,
outgoing kid in the high school class whom everyone wants to be friends
with. Not because he's the smartest or the richest or the handsomest. But
because he's in the best mood.

Now there's a reason to vote for a guy. He's in a good mood? The only way Bush could be in a good mood is to be oblivious to the evil he's doing.

The last truly happy president, in my opinion, was Carter. He was a deep thinker, a man of peace, and the last honest president. A record number of highly qualified women and African Americans were appointed to positions in his administration. He negotiated the release of the hostages in Iran but Reagan basked in the glory, as the homecoming was just after he took office. The right wing ridiculed Carter unmercifully and the public, unaccustomed to such outright lying, bought it.

Back to Bush. He smirks a lot, but the reason he wears a smirk instead of a smile is that happiness and pleasure are not within him and he's not as capable an actor as Reagan was. How can you be in a sunny mood and yet be petty, mean and vindictive?
