When I began this blog in 2001, I was appalled by President Bush's headlong rush to an illegal war (we were not in fact under attack). As time wore on and Bush began his assault on the Constitution and any people bold enough to criticize, I believed that "the republic is endangered more by actions of our own government than by those of any terrorist." With the election of a high-minded, compassionate, intelligent man like Barack Obama, my fears have ceased.

I was hoping for this pick. Edwards can voice the aspirations of Democrats with eloquence and charm and help us remember why we belong to the party we do.

Note: I've been offline and un-computerized for nearly 2 weeks, due to computer problems here (and possibly at the shop where I get my repairs done). Now I'm back but with a new operating system and most of my old settings missing. Unsettling, to say the least. But, man, I got a lot of housework done during the offline period.
