No bread, just circuses

Bush will do anything to distract the public from the issues that affect them - on which Bush has a dismal record. It's astonishing how many people seem to be unaware of this. And the candidates for the most part, fail to address Bush's ploy.

However, one of America's most tell-it-like-it-is political figures, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, fingered the president while campaigning with John Kerry at the mostly black Friendship Missionary congregation in Miami, FL. last weekend:

Jackson asked congregants to raise their hands if they had family members with cancer, or in prison, or worried about poor schools or in need of a livable wage. Hands shot up every time. Finally, he asked: "How many have had someone from your family marry somebody of the same sex?" Nobody stirred.
"Then how," Jackson asked, "did that get in the middle of the agenda?", Knight Ridder Newspapers

As usual, Jackson was on the money.
