Trashed economyYou wonder if the U.S. businessmen who kept begging for tax cuts, and have been getting them under the Bush Administration, ever thought: Wait a minute, how's he going to run the country? How's he going to pay for this war? Doesn't the CEO of Haliburton, which is reaping huge windfall profits from this war at the expense of poor children and beggars, ever have a sleepless night? Does he imagine he will make up for it by tossing a dime in a tin cup somewhere? Yes, American beggars. We have seen images of post WW II European beggars, their homes and livelihoods destroyed by war, begging; we have seen starving Vietnamese, their entire country destroyed by war, begging; but we have ignored our own poor. President bush brags about increased jobs, but it is an empty brag, as Paul Krugman, columnist for the New York times points out in an interesting piece responding to the likely lies and distortions Bush will offer up in the third debate.
