British police on the trail of Underground bombersA report in the New York Times says British police have identified four young men they believe responsible for the synchronized bombings of the London mass transit system July 7. Apparently they were identified by personal belongings found as investigators sifted through the rubble. They found the body of one of the four. I have no doubt the British police will nail this one down and if any of those responsible remain alive, they will be brought to justice. The exact who, what and why of the case is being kept under wraps for now. I grew up on British mystery stories, mostly of the genre in which a bumbling local cop is aided by a city slicker from Scotland Yard ... or a bumbling, rule-bound Yard inspector is aided by the quick thinking and brilliant insights of a private invstigator. Then there were the Canadian myths - the Mounties always get thir man. With modern forensic science, it would be hard to commit any crime undetected if police have a crime scene to review. Not a good time to be a criminal! Palema
