When I began this blog in 2001, I was appalled by President Bush's headlong rush to an illegal war (we were not in fact under attack). As time wore on and Bush began his assault on the Constitution and any people bold enough to criticize, I believed that "the republic is endangered more by actions of our own government than by those of any terrorist." With the election of a high-minded, compassionate, intelligent man like Barack Obama, my fears have ceased.

District Attorney: Ronald Earle, Travis County (Texas) District Attorney
He nailed House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, who appears to have been manipulating the Texas state electoral system to his partty's long term advantage.
Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi of California was quoted in the NY Times as calling Mr. DeLay's activities part of a "culture of corruption" at the expense of the American people.
It's not just politics. DeLay has tried to force a veto-proof majority in the U.S. House of Representatives and his goal is nothing short of permanent power in the United States for his gang of ultra right-wing radicals.
