Things are bad all over

We have a letter from our sardonic correspondent in the second-smallest independent state in the world. He indicates that the U.S., on its downward slide from civilization, is not alone:
Over here we have the delighfully lethal chicken-flu encroaching. As the Gubment says, Dont' Worry, Be Happy, You may not have Your vaccines, but we have ours. So all is well. :-)

Let's do a few more Old Europe prestige projects, shall we ? Probably - certainly - even Ghengis Kahn was an amateur compared to our modern leaders, whose very breath sows destruction across Continents. Burning incalculable numbers of orchards, homes, and vegetable gardens, and households. To replace them, if these people work hard and produce income, they can then sign up for internet, mobile phones, and satellite tv.

Well ! Isn't that marvellous. Instead of tending fruit trees and flowers, they can spend their time gazing admiringly at grey-suited Central Bankers. A charming sight ! Guys who have no idea what is really going to happen either, but they are sure they will pocket very large emoluments in any case.
